On Friday, the court held another ambitious session in our case. Judge Carter took over City Hall Chambers to permit the mayor and all of the council members to appear and testify about their progress fulfilling their obligation to hit 6,700 new beds in the next few months (along with constant reminders that this is just the beginning). -

The Court was forced to take a recess from holding sessions due to the surge in virus cases in LA County, but has ambitiously scheduled a new hearing for Friday, August 7, to be held at LA City Hall. -

As you might have read, we are thrilled that both the County and City have agreed to settle our case, and enter into a consent decree supervised by the courts. -

I hope you all are well. Our case is one of the very few cases that continue during this period. Although the Courthouse is closed our hearings continue in the Alexandria Hotel ballroom. -

As you may have read in recent news articles, Judge Carter has issued an injunction (copy attached) requiring the City and County to provide alternate housing and humanely relocate approximately 7,000-8,000 persons living by freeways throughout LA County. -
